Sweden's Extravagant Health Care Program

Sweden's child health care program is based on the basic principle that the "economy flourishes in direct relation to the mental health of the population". The government provides children with not only normal medical check-up and vacinations appointments, but also four developmental check-ups when the children are eighteen months, two and 1/2 years, four years and six years. These check-ups are meant to assess the child's day to day behavior, to see if the child has any feeding or sleeping disorders and lastly to make sure that the child has no problems dealing with aggression.

There are Child Health Care centers located throughout the country of Sweden. Parents are able to meet with specialists at these centers. Since the visits are considered "preventive healthcare", there is no charge for the services provided.
